Professor Wajcman has published numerous articles and books. The research field of Professor Wajcman is sociology and she has been one of the leading scholars of gender studies with a special focus on technology. She has been a visiting scholar at the Gender Institute at the London School of Economics and is an associate of the Oxford University. Professor Wajcman is currently affiliated with Australian National University. The seminar series is entitled “Gender and Politics of Technoscience.” On this occasion, IGS will organize its 21st evening seminar series, inviting Professor Wajcman as its lecturer. Recently, Juliet joined the e-commerce company Zalando in Berlin as menswear product developer.The Institute for Gender Studies (IGS) is pleased to announce that Professor Judy Wajcman from Australian National University will be hosted as our Visiting Professor from September to November 2006. Her projects focus on social and ecological sustainability in the fashion industry with the final dissertation titled “ The Human Touch – An Ethical Discussion on the Digital Transformation of Sewing Technology”. Juliet founded the label PAID VACATION – a brand for contemporary bespoke tailoring. Juliet’s Bachelor thesis on Value Creation through Sustainability in Clothing Product Development laid the foundation for her postgraduate degree in Design for Change (M. Eng.) at the University of Applied Sciences Hamburg, during which she spent time working in design and product development at Proenza Schouler in New York.

She earned a degree in Clothing – Technology and Management (B. Juliet Seger is a German/British tailor, clothing engineer and fashion designer. After her vocational training in tailoring, she worked as studio manager and technical designer for menswear designer Alex Mullins in London.
